TRENTON, NJ, December 13, 2011 /Music PR News/ -- Miss Amy's CD, FITNESS ROCK & ROLL, has received a GRAMMY nomination for Best Children's Album in the 54th Annual Awards.
Known as "THE Kids Rocker/Fitness Guru" and "The First Lady of Musical Fitness," Miss Amy is an award-winning children's artist who is taking her message to the world music stage. As a unique and creative concept album, the all original songs are organized into an exercise work-out - from warm-up to cool-down. "My 3-year-old daughter was engaged for almost a half-hour — quite an accomplishment for any toddler," writes Shivana Vora of the New York Times. Macaroni Kid of The Princeton-Hamilton News calls it, a "No excuses pop rock fusion of music motivation."
Melding music and fitness, Miss Amy is an Advocate for the President's Challenge Program (a program of the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports). She encourages families to work toward earning the Presidential Active Lifestyle Award while motivating young people to learn about their bodies and build healthy habits for life through her interactive Fitness Rock & Roll shows. And, this name-sake CD has become a favorite among her legions of fans.
Miss Amy has been bringing Health & Wellness messages to families for the past several years, and performed at the "Ready, Set, Go!" themed White House 2010 Egg Roll event that was all about food and fitness awareness. She is a featured artist on the 53rd GRAMMY nominated Healthy Food For Thought: Good Enough To Eat CD, a project that helps the New York Coalition For Healthy School Food provide positive messages to children about eating healthful foods.
The release of the Fitness Rock & Roll CD has brought a bigger spotlight to Miss Amy's ability to captivate audiences with her music that includes movements from actual fitness disciplines for the audience to follow. Included are a number of "rocking tunes" with her band, as well as Zing It!, a track featuring jazz legend Richie Cole, who was lead alto saxophone with Buddy Rich, Doc Severinsen, and Lionel Hampton among others. And, the final cut on the CD is The Zend, a guided meditation that will cool down any work-out.
Miss Amy has over 20 years of fitness instruction experience being accredited for Kids & Teen Fitness, Yoga I & II, Pilates, Tai-Chi, Strength Training, Primary Aerobics and Pre/Post Natal Fitness, and she is a certified Youth/Adolescent Fitness Trainer. This project is on a path to gain national significance by enhancing awareness about the importance of an active life-style for the next generation. Miss Amy is "Making Music Fit For Kids" as she describes by saying, "I make music that motivates kids to move!"
