Mozart and Albeniz share a chamber music program March 4, 2011, at Christ & St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in NYC with Visayan songs from the Philippines; reflecting the diverse repertoire of the Children's Orchestra Society faculty.
MANHASSET, NY, February 10, 2011 /Music PR News/ -- Chamber music to be performed by the Children's Orchestra Society faculty at its Masterworks Concert on Friday, March 4, 2011, at Christ & St. Stephen's Episcopal Church in NYC includes familiar classics--a Mozart horn quintet, Beethoven string quartet, Mendelssohn piano trio, and Albeniz for solo guitar--plus songs from the Visaya region of the Philippines.
Masterworks Concert is an annual faculty recital by the professionally trained musicians of the Children's Orchestra Society (COS). "Our faculty is devoted to developing young talent," explains Executive Director Yeou-Cheng Ma, "yet they hunger to express themselves through their art. The COS Masterworks Concert is an opportunity to showcase our faculty while bringing lively music to the community." Featured at this event are guitarist Michael Dadap, pianist Cynthia De Leon, violinists Yeou-Cheng Ma and Kevin Shue, Olivia Martinez - viola, Marianna Healy - French horn, Marc D. The Masterworks Concert begins at 7:30 PM on March 4th at Christ & St. Stephen's Episcopal Church, 122 West 69th Street, New York, NY 10023; tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the door.
Families in New York city, Long Island and the tri-state area have been involved with Children's Orchestra Society (COS) since it was founded in 1962 by Dr. H.T. Ma. Today, COS provides music programs for the youngest learner through advanced students interested in high caliber performance opportunities. Executive Director Yeou-Cheng Ma is a Developmental pediatrician, and Artistic Director Michael Dadap is well-known by guitarists and in the music community for his compositions and cultural contributions.
