The current Lady Antebellum concert tour, in addition to showcasing the talents of the red-hot Grammy-winning trio, has also been a showcase for the capabilities of theatrical drapery rental company Rent What? Inc. Tour audiences have been dazzled by an inventive array of concert and event staging effects, from 35-foot wide LED star fields, to forest scenes popping in and out of view, and other dramatic visuals enhancing the performance of "Lady A," all courtesy of Rent What?.
Nationally-acclaimed lighting/production designer, Jim Lenahan, called upon Rent What? for a variety of rental drapery products to bring the tour to life. Staging includes a motorized drapery lift system which lowers and raises a digitally printed "Braille" drape custom-produced by sister-company Sew What? Inc. In addition, the tour features metal mesh drapery elements offering a textured stage curtain look, from the Rent What? Industrial Texture series.
"This has been a full exercising of our potential," said Rent What? Inc. partner Megan Duckett. "The tour really pushes the visual experience for the audience, and we're excited to rise to the occasion by making available a full range of products, from our various creative drapery series collections to complete drapery track and lift systems. It also gives us a chance to demonstrate the expanded possibilities when combining our rental products from Rent What? with custom-manufactured drapes from Sew What?."
In the Lady Antebellum show, a forest scene emerges, digitally printed over a theatrical cotton Sharkstooth scrim that becomes transparent when lit from behind, allowing the lighting designer to play with a multitude of effects. The scrim, sewn as a "Braille" drape, flattens out when lowered from the ceiling but gathers together when raised.
The motorized drapery lift system from Rent What? is described as ideal for touring. It makes curtain management easy within a variety of venues, with the capability of lifting drapes as large as 60' wide by 30' high. It is durable, flexible and easy to install.
The entire concert staging, enhanced with Rent What?'s 35-foot Starlight LED backdrop, adds illusion and dimension to a stellar concert by Lady Antebellum. "We're big fans of Lady A and equally big fans of Jim Lenahan. We couldn't be more excited to be part of this new tour." added Duckett.
The current Lady Antebellum tour, which began in September, continues across the country through November. For more tour information and dates, go to www.ladyantebellum.com/tourdates.
